Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a young woman recently released from a mental hospital. We film fans all know that the best part about watching movies is discussing them afterwards and I hope this list generates some decent dialogue. #Pull the truth apart and weaveit in the lie freePlease feel free to leave comments though with movies you think I missed, movies you think I over or underrated or general comments. So, if your favorite indie art-house film from the 2000’s isn’t on this list I whole-heartedly apologize. Therefore there are literally entire years where I fell behind on movie watching and am just now catching up. But I mention this rule only because this past decade was also the one in which all three of my children were born. Sounds like an over-simplification I know. Also the number one qualifier for this list is that I had to have actually seen the film. Probably more than everyone I know with the exception of maybe three people, but I am not a film critic, nor do I fancy myself as one. Now this list should really be taken with a grain of salt. "Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation on thee do I wait all the day" (Psalm 25:5) Happy is the man who enjoys the blessing of perfect love in connection with an informed mind, experienced head and sound judgment. It is blessed to be sanctified, and even more blessed to be intelligently sanctified. Here is the other side of the truth here is hope for all, for these words do certainly mean that there is such a thing as a gift of knowing, a gift that comes from heaven. "Except it were given thee from above" (John 19:11). For a man to understand revealed truth requires an act of God equal to the original act which inspired the text. The most brilliant intellect may be imbecilic when confronted with the mysteries of God. If a man holds to the fundamentals of the Christian faith he is thought to possess divine truth. They conceive truth to be something which they can grasp with the mind. "Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above" (John 19:11)Įverywhere we find persons who are Bible-taught but not Spirit-taught. ![]()
